At the end of 1981 the MTC staged “A Cuckoo In The Nest”, a farce written in 1925 by English playwrite Ben Travers. The play is “a comment in very jaunty form on the contemporary state of divorce laws”.

Directed by Simon Chilvers, who also played the central role of Peter Wykeham, the production at the Athenaeum Theatre included a number of well-known Melbourne actors.

Denzil played the part of Major George Bone, typical of the eccentric character parts he played on stage during this period of this life.

Some cast members seen here include: Sally McKenzie, Babs McMillan, Simon Chilvers, James Wright and Gary Down.
