The Radio Announcer, 3YB Warrnambool, 1946
image

The radio announcer at work in the new studios of 3YB Warrnambool in the T&G building, 1946, constructed after the previous studio burned down in 1945.

This photo gives an idea of the simplicity of radio studio equipment in that era, compared with the high-tech computerised studios of today. The turntable in the foreground would be for playing 78s (no vinyl microgroove recordings then) usually with a heavy pickup fitted with a steel or fibre needle.
